Auburn cuts naming rights cost

AUBURN, Ala. (AP) - Auburn University is dropping the cost to get your name on one of its campus buildings. Jeff McNeill, vice president for development, cited tight economic times for the change which will cut naming rights on the new buildings by up to 75 percent.

Now you can get your name on new student dorms for a cool $1 million. Naming rights usually go for about half the price of construction. The new residence halls at Auburn cost $8 million to $9 million each to build.

In addition to offering naming rights to the residence halls for $1 million each, the school is offering rights to name a new dining hall for $3 million, and rights to name the new neighborhood in which the buildings are situated for $5 million.
