Salvation Army closing puts pressure on other local shelters

Montgomery, AL (WSFA) - Plans to renovate the Salvation Army could put a strain on other local shelters.

During the construction, the Salvation Army will have to close the doors to a portion of the homeless shelter.

Leaders at nearby Friendship Mission say they're feeling the pressure.

They need extra food, labor, and supplies to provide for the bigger crowd.

If you would like to help call 334-467-7687.

Only men will be affected by the renovation because when the women and children's wing is under construction, they will be moved to the already completed men's side.

The Salvation Army will also continue to serve meals during the day while that renovation is ongoing.

Work will begin March 15th.
