MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - State Treasurer and Republican gubernatorial candidate Kay Ivey will start appearing in her campaign's first TV commercial around Alabama Tuesday.

The 30 second spot highlights Ivey's achievements as State Treasurer and explains how they benefit overburdened Alabama taxpayers.

"The public knows that our government is broken and broke," Ivey said in a statement. "People want straight talk and conservative solutions. That's what I'm all about. I am the only candidate for governor who has produced real dollar savings in state government---above and beyond what was required by proration. I have created cost-saving efficiencies and improvements in the Treasurer's office which have made it more productive and responsive to the taxpayer," Ivey explained. "This commercial uses state of the art computer animation to visually reinforce those changes and metrics in a way that viewers can quickly understand.  It compresses a 30 minute speech on my accomplishments into 30 seconds."

Ivey says the commercial will set the tone for what Alabamians can expect from her as Governor. "We need good stewardship. We need real results, not warm and fuzzy platitudes."

Ivey is one of at least seven Republicans seeking the nomination to become the state's 53rd governor.
