Police concentrate patrols in west Montgomery

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA)-This is the third time the police department has increased patrols in this area.  It started in Chisholm, then moved to Calmar Drive and now it's in the Ridgecrest - Fairview area.

The Montgomery Police Department is focusing on the west precinct, saturating dozens of officers in the neighborhoods, patrolling the streets and serving arrest warrants.

During some of the first arrests in neighborhoods off Fairview Avenue the SWAT team confiscated guns and drugs... some of the main reasons this area was selected for the next neighborhood saturation program.

Montgomery Police haven't set a certain time limit on this operation.   Its mobile command post is located in the IGA parking lot on Court Street and they're asking all neighbors to step up and work with the department... even stop by and tell them if they've noticed any illegal activity to help address the issues in west Montgomery.

The saturation points start on Fairview Avenue and stretches to Normon Bridge Road, including Flemming Street and Rosa Parks Avenue.
