The Governor's Task Force on Illegal Gambling says it asked the manager of a Birmingham warehouse to remove 300 electronic bingo machines and then escorted the machines toward the state line.
Task force commander John Tyson said Thursday that customs officials notified Alabama State Troopers that the machines had entered the U.S. at Jacksonville, Florida, from Panama and were headed for the warehouse.
Tyson says task force agents and sheriffs deputies confronted workers at the warehouse.
Todd Stacy, a spokesman for the governor and task force, says workers were loading machines onto a truck when the task force arrived Tuesday.
Tyson says officers determined the warehouse was owned by Synergy Inc. and the warehouse manager cooperated with authorities and removed the machines from Alabama.
