MT. VERNON, GA - Cassie Moore scored 18 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead Auburn University at Montgomery to a 62-57 road conference win over Brewton-Parker College.
The game was a hard-fought defensive struggle with a total of 56 turnovers in the game. The Lady Senators did not shoot the ball well, but entered the locker room at halftime holding on to a slim 27-26 lead.
In the second half, AUM was able to push the lead out to nine points, before the home team upped its defensive pressure and cut the lead down to five.
AUM was able to knock down their free throws late in the game to keep BPC from completing their comeback. Moore finished the game knocking down 10 of her 13 free throws and Melanie Gess hit four of her six attempts.
Gess joined Moore in double digits with 14 points and grabbed eight rebounds. Nicole Jones scored 11 points and Stephanie Torrance came off the bench to chip in with nine points, all on three-pointers.
The Lady Senators move to 14-13 overall and 9-6 in conference action while Brewton-Parker falls to 10-19 overall and 4-12 in the conference. The Lady Senators will conclude the regular season with a road game at Southern Polytechnic State University on Saturday at 1 p.m.
