TALLASSEE, AL (WSFA) - Three months after a fire destroyed the historic Hotel Talisi and a consignment shop next door, a development in the case.

The minor accused of starting the fire, 17-year-old Dylan Keith Carroll, will be tried as an adult.

Carroll is charged with 2 counts of Arson 2nd, Arson 3rd, 4counts of Burglary 3rd, 2 counts of Theft of Property 3rd, 2 counts of Criminal Mischief 1st, Theft of Property 2nd, Criminal Mischief 2nd, Breaking and Entering a Vehicle, and Possession of Burglary Tools.

Investigators say the suspect set fire to Smarty Pants Consignment Shop to cover up a burglary he'd just committed that November 30, 2009 morning. The consignment shop was connected to the historic Hotel Talisi, which had just been renovated and reopened three weeks prior.

Nearly 200 firefighters tried to save the businesses, but when the smoke cleared all that remained was a charred shell.

Warrants are being issued and the case will be presented to the next Elmore County Grand Jury the week of April 5th.
