MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - New security measures go into effect today at Montgomery City Hall.
Visitors will now have to pass through metal detector before entering the city council chamber. Additionally, visitors will now have to be escorted to their destination.
The general public must enter at the entrance closest to Madison Avenue and Perry Street. The door at the rear of the chamber will now be used only as an exit.
City officials simply describe the changes as preventative measures to improve safety in the building.
