Auburn bank robbery suspect arrested

AUBURN, AL (WSFA) - A suspect in the February 22 robbery of an Auburn area bank is in police custody.

Auburn Police arrested 32-year-old Shawn S. Smith of Columbus, Georgia, on a warrant charging him with Robbery 1st Degree. 

Smith is accused of robbing the BankTrust branch on North Dean Road in Auburn. He was extradited from Columbus and is currently incarcerated at the Lee County Detention Center.

Police say the bank robber never showed anyone a weapon during the crime and no one was injured.
