Bingo halls back open in Jefferson Co.

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - Customers are packing bingo halls in Jefferson County this weekend as many of the facilities reopened last night.

Dozens of bingo hall operators were given the okay to open by local law enforcement.

A pair of court rulings this week restricts the governor's task force from raiding the facilities. They were shut down earlier because the district attorney for that area said they were illegal.

The bingo halls were once again jammed with customers who say they couldn't wait to play again.

Meanwhile, Governor Bob Riley reiterated his belief the machines at facilities around the state are not legal.

A circuit judge ordered Attorney General Troy King to let him know what he thinks of the governor's task force by March 22nd.
