MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) – An early Sunday morning crash has claimed the life of two Louisiana men. The crash occurred around midnight in Lowndes County.

Milton Griffin, 31, of Louisiana was traveling west on County Road 6 in a 2007 Ford E456 U-haul truck when he failed to yield right-of-way to a south bound CSX train.

The only passenger in the truck, Ivory J. Batiste, Jr. was pronounced dead at the scene by Lowndes County Coroner, Audrey Marlette. Griffin was transported to Baptist South hospital where he died at 4:39 a.m.

Preliminary investigation indicates that the occupants of the truck were not wearing seat belts and alcohol was a factor on the part of the truck's driver. State Troopers continue to investigate.
