OPELIKA, AL (WSFA) - The skeletal remains found in a wooded area of Opelika last week have been identified.

Lee County Coroner Bill Harris says the remains are those of 34-year-old Paul Metroplos of Opelika.

Metroplos was reported missing from an area mental health facility on August 20, 2009. Alabama Power company employees found Metroplos' remains 200-300 yards from the facility last Thursday morning.

An investigation has ruled out foul play as a cause of death, and authorities say the case is now closed.
