Mail drivers get probation for not delivering pieces of mail

MOBILE, AL (AP) - An Alabama judge has sentenced a husband and wife who worked as contract drivers for the U.S. Postal Service to probation for failing to deliver thousands of pieces of mail.

On Monday, Senior U.S. District Judge Charles Butler Jr. sentenced 28-year-old Jeffrey M. Brown and 27-year-old Cassie L. Brown to probation for delay or destruction of the mail.

The Browns who now live in Ocean Springs, Miss., say they couldn't finish their routes on time and became overwhelmed.

Investigators say they uncovered 3,456 pieces of mail that the pair left in a home or had someone toss in a Dumpster.
