Auburn tailback runs 4.4 in 40 at NFL combine

AUBURN, Ala. (AP) - Auburn tailback Ben Tate ran the 40-yard dash in 4.4 seconds at the NFL Combine and felt he could do better by running it again at Pro Day.

But he says his agent told him the 4.4 was plenty good and he didn't need to run it again. Tate said he's following the agent's advice.

Tate told the Montgomery Advertiser in a story Thursday that he has been called for private workouts by two teams in the AFC and is hoping for more.

He said he has cut back on his rigorous workouts to stay fresh for the private sessions.
