    In my editorial on Tuesday I chided our legislators for being the last state to pass a no-brainer  bill legalizing home brewing.  Today I want to challenge them to be one of the first states to pass another no-brainer;

    Kudos, or perhaps, cheers to the Alabama Legislature for passing HB9, the home brewing bill. Legalized home brewing may not be up there with education reform or prison funding, but it was overdue.

Spring cleaning is a tradition in many homes. It is a cleansing process for many – particularly after a harsh winter.

It is also needed.

We applaud the nearly 3,000 volunteers who have already signed up to extend their spring cleaning efforts into the community to take part in Montgomery's version of the Great American Clean-up program – Pick-Up Montgomery!

They'll be cleaning up all around town -  in schools, parks, and cemeteries.

You can volunteer as well.  There are littered sites all over town.

Just call the Clean City Commission in Montgomery and they'll provide complimentary trash bags to help your clean up efforts.

Or just clean up on your own in your neighborhood – or your work place.   We can then truly say business is picking up!

And if you drop trash, you should pay cash. We encourage and applaud litter violation enforcement!

Let's make pollen the only spring time nuisance!
