Opelika sees first murder of 2010

OPELIKA, AL (WTVM) - Opelika Police have made their first murder arrest of 2010.

At 11:45 a.m. on Monday the Opelika Police Department responded to the 200th block of Chester Avenue where they found 21-year-old Montavious Moore suffering from a gunshot wound to the head.

Moore was transported to the East Alabama Medical Center for treatment but died less than an hour later.

Demetrius Short turned himself in to Opelika police at 12:35 p.m. and was officially charged with murder at 2:05 p.m.

No other information was immediately available.
