BASS founder endorses Tim James for Ala. governor

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - The founder of the Bass Anglers Sportsman Society and the Whitetail Institute of North America, Ray Scott, has endorsed Republican Tim James for governor.

Scott made the endorsement Monday on the Capitol steps in Montgomery. Scott says James has a lot of what his neighbors in Pintlala, Ala., call "horse sense." James says that if he is elected, he will use the governor's office to try to bolster one of Alabama's poorest areas, the Black Belt region, by promoting it as a hunting and fishing destination. He said hunting and fishing could mean many tourist dollars for the region.
