MONTGOMERY, AL - Members of the Alabama Association of REALTORS® (AAR) are hoping to encourage residents to take advantage of the home buyer tax credit and are planning an open house to educate buyers..
The first statewide open house is set for April 10-11.
A number of REALTORS® in Alabama will participate in the statewide open house to bring the public information on the home buyer tax credit, while showcasing homes in their area.
Several local associations and boards will list the homes participating in newspapers, on websites and other local publications. Homes featured in the statewide open house may be identified by blue balloons with the REALTOR® trademark "R".
Keith Kelley, AAR President, is optimistic the statewide open house will be a success across the state. "Holding a statewide open house is a great opportunity for residents to not only view a large selection of homes, but to take advantage of the tax credit," said Kelley. "We believe this will be a huge success," added Kelley.
The first time home buyer tax credit, of up to $8,000, was extended until April 30, and includes a tax credit of $6,500 for existing homeowners seeking to buy a new or existing home. To qualify for the tax credit you must have a contract on a home by April 30 and close on the home by June 30.
To find homes in your area participating in the statewide open house, contact a local association or board near you. Visit the AAR website, www.alabamarealtors.com, for a listing of local associations and boards.
