Huntingdon's piano concerts end with Van Cliburn winner

MONTGOMERY AL, (WSFA) - Huntingdon College will present Evgeni Bozhanov as the guest artist for its final concert in the Elizabeth Belcher Cheek Piano Concert Series for 2010-2011.

The concert will be held Tuesday, April 20, at 7:30 p.m. in the College's Ligon Chapel, Flowers Hall.

Bozhanov is the winner of the 13th International Van Cliburn piano competition. A native of Rousse, Bulgaria, Bozhanov made his orchestral debut with his hometown orchestra at age 12.

The pianist is currently pursuing post-graduate studies at the Robert Schumann School of Music in Duesseldorf, Germany. He's earned top prizes from Chopin competitions, and has performed in major concert halls in Germany. He's currently planning a tour of Italy.

Ben F. Cheek III sponsors the concerts in memory of his first wife, Huntingdon alumna Elizabeth Belcher Cheek.  The concert is free and open to the public.
