AUBURN, AL. – Auburn utility man Jr. Justin Bryant is out of the Auburn lineup after breaking the fifth metacarpal on his left (non-throwing) hand when he was hit by a pitch during the second inning of Tuesday night's 6-2 win over South Alabama.

Bryant was hitting .317 prior to the injury and the team has gone 20-3 with him in the starting lineup. A valuable piece to Auburn's lineup, he has made starts at shortstop (7-1), third base (6-2), left field

(5-0) and second base (2-0).

No timetable has been set for Bryant's return. Bryant becomes the fourth Auburn regular to miss time with a severe injury, joining Jr. OF Trent Mummey (severely sprained ankle, 28 games), So. IF Casey McElroy (finger fracture, seven games) and Jr. OF Justin Fradejas (hand injury, 15 games where he could only pinch run).

Auburn welcomes defending national champion and current No. 3 LSU to Plainsman Park this weekend for a three-game SEC series. Game times are 7pm CT on Friday, 2pm on Saturday and 1pm on Sunday. Friday's game will air live on CSS while Saturday's will be shown live on SportsSouth.
