MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - Hundreds of homes across Alabama will open their doors today.

It's part of the "Nationwide Open House" to encourage people to buy a new home while they can still get the home buyer tax credit.

The event started yesterday and continues until tomorrow.

Open signs and blue balloons mark the participating listings.

To qualify for the tax credit, potential buyers need to sign a contract on a new home before April 30th.

Buyers must then close on that home before the end of June.
