Wie set to play in Bell Micro LPGA Classic

MOBILE, Ala. (AP) - The Mobile LPGA tournament is scheduled to include the top 10-ranked players.

Tournament officials said Monday that Michelle Wie, currently ranked 9th in the world, has agreed to compete in the Bell Micro LPGA Classic that runs May 13-16. It will be the first time for Wie to compete in the event.

She's no stranger to the game, however. In 2009 she tied for second in the Navistar LPGA Classic, also on Alabama's Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail. She later won the Lorena Ochoa Invitational Presented and also was on the winning Solheim Cup team for the United States.

One of the tour's more popular players, she is ranked ninth in the world. She tied for second in last year's Navistar LPGA Classic in Prattville, another tournament on the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail.

No. 1-ranked Lorena Ochoa is also scheduled to compete in Mobile.

The best players in the world, including Wie, are heading to Mobile in just under a month. Based on the Rolex Women's World Golf Rankings, all Top 10 players are currently in the Bell Micro LPGA field. They include:
