Opelika, AL (WSFA) - When he's not drawing up problems on the board, he's drawing up plays on the basketball court. Mr. John Wadsworth teaches 9th grade math and coaches varsity boys basketball at Opelika High School. He knows he's in the right profession. "I did sales before this and I didn't enjoy going to work, now I'm excited about it everyday and it's a blessing," Wadsworth said.
He's been in the classroom for 5 years. The person who nominated him for the Class Act award says, he's a superb individual both inside and outside the classroom. Mr. Wasdworth knows one thing for sure, high school is the right age for him. "I substituted one day in elementary school. Bless those people. I couldn't do it. The high school age is for me."
He combines his coaching and teaching skills in the classroom and on the court, hoping to produce winners in both areas. "I hope they leave here productive members of society. I teach math and problem solving and hope they can use that down the road."
The road should be a lot easier with his help. Mr. John Wadsworth from Opelika Wadsworth, a real Class Act.
