AU softball beats Mercer; returns home to face Georgia

Macon, Ga. - Kyndall White and Elizabeth Eisterhold each hit two-run home runs to lead the Auburn softball team to a 4-0 victory over Mercer Tuesday night.

Auburn improved to 23-17 overall, while Mercer dropped to 21-22. The Tigers return to action this weekend with a three-game series against the Georgia Bulldogs in Athens. Saturday's doubleheader begins at noon CT. Sunday's finale also starts at noon CT.

Lauren Schmalz started for Auburn and went 2.1 innings, allowing just a pair of hits and striking out three. Anna Thompson earned the win in relief to improve to 13-7. Thompson threw the final 4.2 innings, allowing just one hit and striking out 11.

Jenni Holtz started and took the loss for Mercer to fall to 13-13. In a complete-game effort, Holtz allowed four runs, all earned, on five hits with three walks and eight strikeouts.
