Abandoned eyesore demolished in Montgomery

A dramatic change that many residents in one West side neighborhood say is long over due.  The abandoned apartment complex on Wilmington Avenue had been abandoned for years.  On Wednesday things changed as the structure was demolished.

The Montgomery city council approved the demolition and three others at the last council meeting.

In the city of Montgomery there is a budget set aside each year for demolitions and at every council meeting the Housing Codes Authority presents the council with properties to be demolished.  Once the budget runs out, the properties are placed in a folder to be brought up the next fiscal year.

The city wants to remind folks demolishing property isn't a speedy process which requires a lot of paper.
