Coach Saban visits Bama's gymnastics team

TUSCALOOSA, AL - Alabama head football coach Nick Saban stopped by the Frances Smith Practice Facility in Coleman Coliseum as the Crimson Tide gymnastics team was preparing for the upcoming NCAA Championships in Gainesville, Fla.

Saban, who led Alabama football to its 13th national title in January, offered his congratulations on the gymnasts' success to date and then shared some advice on the team's pursuit of its fifth national championship.

"I know that (to win the national championship) is your goal," Saban said. "I know that's what you want to do. But you want to make sure you take advantage of that opportunity by doing all the things you need to do individually and collectively as a team so you can do it the best you can do it, and then you can live with the result."

The UA gymnastics team is making its 28th consecutive NCAA Championship appearance and has finished in the top six 25 times, including national championships in 2002, 1996, 1991 and 1988. Last year the Tide finished second for the seventh time in program history.
