Alabama Legislature meets to discuss bingo bill, construction, and tuition

MONTGOMERY, AL (AP) - The Alabama Legislature will return to Montgomery on Wednesday and Thursday for its final two meeting days.

House Speaker Seth Hammett and Lt. Gov. Jim Folsom Jr. say the three big issues will be whether the House will pass a bill to tax and regulate electronic bingo, whether the House and Senate can reach a compromise to spend $1 billion on a road construction program, and whether the two chambers can compromise on a plan to shore up Alabama's prepaid college tuition plan.

The Legislature won't have its traditional last-minute rush to complete the state budgets. The budgets were completed early.
