AU football practice report

AUBURN AL - The Auburn football team wrapped up the final day of team drills with a practice session in shells going just under two hours Monday morning on the fields behind the Athletic Complex.

Auburn head coach Gene Chizik said the Tigers spent the practice emphasizing fundamentals in individual and team periods. "It was a good last day of practice," Chizik said. "We got some good fundamental things accomplished. We worked on correcting some of the mistakes we made in Saturday's A-Day game. Today was a good day for everyone to rebound from Saturday and it was a good way to end spring practice."

Chizik noted the improvement of the Tigers from the beginning of practice on March 24 through today's final practice. "I was very satisfied with how we progressed in certain areas," Chizik said. "One of the things we put an emphasis on was being able to run the ball on offense and being able to stop the run on defense.

Being physical in everything we do on the field was a major goal too. It was a little sporadic both ways and was a little feast or famine at times, but I feel we are headed in the right direction." The Tigers will spend the remainder of spring and summer working out in individual groups without coaches. Auburn will begin full practices for the 2010 season in early August.

The 2010 season begins Sept. 4, with the Tigers battling Arkansas State in Jordan-Hare Stadium. For ticket information, contact the Auburn Athletics Ticket Office at 800-AUB-1957, or online at www.auburntigers.com/tickets.
