The Alabama National Fair & Agricultural Exposition
The Alabama National Fair & Agricultural Exposition has announced October 8-17, as the dates for this year's Fair at Garrett Coliseum and Fairgrounds. The 57th Alabama National Fair & Agricultural Exposition promises plenty of "Thrills, Squeals and Ferris Wheels.........It will be FAIR-TASTIC!".
The Fair will kick off on Friday, October 8th with a Salute to America's Veterans in honor of our "Korean War Veterans". The Fair has plenty of new attractions this year, including Frontier Park. Our Nation's heritage will come alive through the excitement of the Great American Frontier Show. This Frontier Show provides a tribute to the frontier people and animals that built America! Also new this year, the Welde Bears, an attraction the family will enjoy. The Famous Welde Family has featured their bears in the animated Disney Movie "Brother Bear". Other appearances include the movie "The Big Fish" , and numerous other movies with Universal, Disney, and 20th Century Fox Studios.
On Saturday night October 16th, the Alabama National Fair & Agricultural Exposition is proud to announce The Charlie Daniels Band will perform on the Coliseum stage. Charlie began writing songs in the 1950's and over the years has amassed a string of hits such as "Uneasy Rider, "The South's Gonna Do It Again", "Long Haired Country Boy", and many more. In 2007 Charlie was inducted into the Grand Ole Opry. Charlie is getting noticed again for his "hot" fiddle playing in the Geico commercials.
There is still one more major country act to be announced soon and negotiations are underway to bring in a major R&B act for Sunday afternoon, October 10th. Both will be announced in the near future.
Also at this year's Fair, children ages 6 and under will be admitted free and there will also be plenty of special ticket pricing and savings on wristbands during the week.
Other attractions include Robinson's Racing Pigs & Pig Paddling Porkers, the Puppetone Rockers, a petting zoo and more. More acts will be announced soon, but there is no doubt this years' Alabama National Fair & Agricultural Exposition will have plenty of "Thrills, Squeals, & Ferris Wheels. It will be a FAIR-TASTIC time for everyone!"
The Alabama National Fair & Agricultural Exposition is presented by the Kiwanis Club of Montgomery and over the years has returned more $6.5 million to charitable organizations throughout Central Alabama.
