Enterprise, AL (WSFA) - An Enterprise man is facing attempted murder charges after police say he stabbed his ex-girlfriend with a knife and screwdriver and left her for dead.

Captain Mike Lolley from the Enterprise Police Department said, "We work domestic disputes daily, but it's rare that we see one that entails this much violence."

Lolley says it all started around 8:12 Wednesday morning.  They got a call from a neighbor that there was a woman lying in her driveway that had been stabbed multiple times.

When they arrived, they found 25 year old Andrea John with stab wounds to her neck, back, and abdomen.

Neighbors arrived on scene first.  They say they heard her screams and ran to the rescue.

Steve Souza, who just moved into the neighborhood Tuesday said, "I went and grabbed my first aid kit and cell phone, then I called 911.  The other guy put a T-shirt on her and tried to patch her up, and we waited for the ambulance to get there and tried to keep her talking."

When police arrived, the woman was able to tell them that her ex-boyfriend, 27 year old Timothy Straw, was the man who stabbed her, and that he fled in her gold Chevrolet Impala.

Police put out a lookout for that car, and a few hours later, Clio Police found him at his mother's house there in Clio.

He was arrested without incident and transported back to Enterprise.

Lolley says this isn't the first time Straw has had a run in with the law.

"They've had domestics in the past.  He's had multiple arrests in Dale County and a pending case here in Enterprise, " Lolley said.

Neighbors say they're relieved there was an arrest.

Souza said, "Nothing's really happened like this is the area, and I think the worst part is just her two girls.  She's got two little girls that live there."

He's hoping it's the first and last time this happens outside their doorsteps.

Andrea John was taken to Flowers Hospital in Dothan and is listed in serious, but stable condition.
