Three people ejected in I-85 SUV rollover

MACON CO., AL (WSFA) - Three people were seriously injured Thursday morning when the Chevrolet Suburban SUV they were traveling in ran off the roadway and flipped.

The accident happened on Interstate 85 near the Shorter exit.

A total of four people were in the vehicle, including a 4-month old baby who was strapped into a car seat and remained uninjured.

Authorities say the other passengers were not wearing safety belts, and each was thrown from the automobile as it flipped.

Traffic remained backed up for miles along the interstate.

State troopers said one victim with life-threatening injuries was transported to the hospital and at least two more people were hurt.

The accident remains under investigation.
