Free physicals offered for Montgomery athletes

MONTGOMERY, AL - Jackson Hospital in cooperation with Alabama Orthopaedic Specialists and Rehab Associates is offering free sports physicals for student athletes throughout Montgomery.
Coordinated through each schools' athletic department, the physicals are being offered on Saturday, May 8, from 8am-12pm at Trinity Presbyterian School.

As part of the Jackson Sports Medicine on Call program, more than 1,500 children are expected to go through the comprehensive physical examination as part of their eligibility to participate in school athletic activities in the coming academic year.

"We are so pleased to again be able to provide these physicals for free to students," stated Charles Lee, director of sports medicine for Jackson Hospital. "Many of these students may not be able to afford the exams, or their parents can't take the time off from work to allow them to participate," Lee offered.

Children receive a comprehensive sports physical including these screenings: height and weight; heart and lungs; vision, blood pressure, flexibility and an examination by a physician.

Nearly 100 volunteers from Jackson Hospital and its partners come together to make this event possible, from physicians, physical therapists, nurses, athletic trainers and others.
