AUM baseball and softball players earn honors

COLUMBUS, GA - The Southern States Athletic Conference released its post-season honors for baseball and softball at the Baseball and Softball Banquet held in Columbus, Ga.

Heading the softball team is Brandi Richards, Covington, Ga., who was named the SSAC Pitcher of the Year.  It is the second consecutive season she has received the honor.

Joining Richards on the first team are Monica Hatcher, Ft. Pierce, Fla. and Whitney Wyatt, Montgomery.

The Lady Senators placed four players on the second team.  Allie Bobo, Oxford, Taylor Burt, Leesburg, Stacin Halverson, Anaheim, Calif., and Danielle Ryan, Madison, Miss., were named second team.

Halverson was also named to the Champions of Character Team and was named to the SSAC All-Academic Team.  Joining Halverson on the All-Academic Team were Sara Allen, Montgomery, Danielle Kirkpatrick, McDonough, Ga., Taylor Saint, Wetumpka, and Kacie Ryal, Henyetta, Okla.

Rachel Stuart, Dora, was named to the All-Freshman Team.

Sam Judah, Ozark, and Michal Dugan, Montgomery, were named to the All-SSAC First Team.  Dugan was named second team a season ago and it is Judah's first honor.

Bruce Alter, Montgomery, and Dugan were named to the Gold Glove team and Matt Arrighi, Montgomery, was named to the Champions of Character Team for the second time.

Robby Davis, Gadsden, and Branden Kelley, Prattville, joined Alter and Dugan on the SSAC All-Academic Team.
