ALDOT Alert: lane closures on I-65

MONTGOMERY, AL - Work continues on a major project to repair bridge joints on I-65 between Montgomery and Prattville. Most of the work will be done at night over the next several months.

Weather permitting, from Monday to Thursday there will be lane closures on I-65 (between mile markers 176 and 179) beginning at 7 p.m. and ending about 6 a.m., the following morning. The closings began Sunday with closing of the two outside lanes on I-65 North and should transition to the two outside lanes on I-65 South later in the week.

In general, the traveling public should expect regular lane closures during the evenings on I-65 North and South for the duration of the project.

The Montgomery Police Department will assist with traffic control and motorists should expect moderate delays. Motorists should obey work zone speed limits and pay attention to advisory signs.

ALDOT will provide frequent updates to the news media in addition to the information available online and through other means. For road/lane closure information, visit the ALDOT Web site at Keep checking WSFA Channel 12 and WSFA.COM for useful updates.
