U.S. Humane Society helping local societies

The U.S. Humane Society has a new vehicle to help local humane societies respond to puppy mills or dog fighting.

The national group brought their van by the local office Monday to show it off.  All Montgomery officials have to do is call the Washington, D.C. office and the van and a vet will come help.  "With dog fighting cases this will close the gap.  We can do everything in there.  We can examine the animal, document what happened, blood processing and package evidence.  This will help the stronger prosecutions," says Chris Schindler with the U.S. Humane Society.

So far this year, the Montgomery Humane Society has busted three puppy mills, one of them with over 100 dogs.  There are at least 30 dog fighting cases so far.
