HAYNEVILLE, AL (WSFA) - The drought is over in Lowndes County.
Hayneville Mayor Eleanor Bell confirmed this morning that water was flowing again in the homes of about 1,200 residents after a faulty pump made the faucets run dry Monday afternoon. Repair crews worked through the night and the mayor said the pump -- one of two that supply water to the Lowndes County community -- was working again.
The city had problems with its water system before. The first pump went down a few months back. The mayor said the second pump may be repaired by the end of the day -- WSFA 12 News is remaining in contact with officials to see if and when that happens.
