Church abduction suspect eyed in case of missing Ga. woman

BLAIRSVILLE, Ga. (AP) - The man suspected of trying to abduct a 10-year-old girl from the parking lot of a church near Montgomery on Easter Sunday is being investigated in the disappearance of a Georgia woman who authorities believe was abducted in August.

Authorities say Kristi Cornwell was abducted while talking to her boyfriend on her cell phone Aug. 11.

Authorities say 42-year-old James Scott Carringer was wanted in the April 6 kidnapping and rape of a 19-year-old relative. He shot himself two days later after a three-hour standoff with police in Buckhead, Ga.

GBI spokesman John Bankhead says tips concerning a vehicle caused them to focus on Carringer in the Cornwell case
