Governor Riley announced Thursday that the state and Microsoft will be joining forces.
The program, called Elevate America, will provide thousands of Alabamians with workforce readiness skills and technology training. It covers everything in the Microsoft Office Suit, and Windows Vista. And it's coming at the right time, according to some studies.
"When you look at the data, the Bureau of Labor Statistics indicates that in five years, more than 70% of all U.S. based jobs will require a basic level of technology skills. The training has to happen," said Brian Fields with Elevate America.
More than 13,000 vouchers will be available for pick up through career centers located throughout the state.
