ALDOT says lane closures coming to I-65 again

MONTGOMERY, AL – Work continues on a project to repair bridge joints on I-65 between Montgomery and Prattville. The majority of the work will be done at night over the next two to three months.

Weather permitting, Friday, May 14, the two outside lanes of I-65 South (between mile markers 176 and 179) will be closed nightly between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. for the next one to two weeks. A minimum of one lane will be open to traffic at all times.

In general, the traveling public should expect regular lane closures during the evenings on I-65 North and South for the duration of the project.

ALDOT says little or no impact on traffic flow is expected because this work is being conducted during night-time hours when interstate traffic volumes are low.

The Montgomery Police Department will assist with traffic control. Moderate delays can be expected. Motorists should obey work zone speed limits and pay attention to advisory signs. ALDOT thanks motorists for their patience during this construction to improve Alabama's roadways.

ALDOT will provide frequent updates to the news media in addition to the information available online and through other means. For road/lane closure information, visit the ALDOT Web site at
