Best in Class 2011 letter to Principals

Dear Principal:

WSFA 12 News, along with our sponsor, Auburn University – Montgomery, is proud to once again honor the valedictorians and salutatorians of our area high schools with our program "The Best In Class."

This community service project emphasizes the value of education by recognizing those students with outstanding academic achievements. It exemplifies these students as positive role models for younger students and it celebrates the school's achievement in developing such accomplished students.

This year the area's valedictorians and salutatorians will appear on our web site,, including their photo and a brief synopsis of their achievements and plans for the future. We will also run promotional commercials on-air, announcing this year's "Best In Class" launch, inviting the viewer to visit our web site to see the students' information.

We would like for your valedictorian and salutatorian (or you school's equivalents) to participate. This involves having a school official gather and send WSFA 12 News the following information to

1) Name of School
2) Location of School (city and county)
3) Name of valedictorian(s) and salutatorian(s)
4) No more than one short paragraph indicating the student's plans after graduation.
5) Also please attach a .JPG photo, head & shoulders, to the email.  Here are the requirements for the portrait orientation photo:

    • 300 pixels wide (any height)
    • The file size should not exceed 100k
    • The file MUST be titled using the name of the student followed by ".JPG" i.e. jamie-briggs.jpg

Please get the attached information from your valedictorian and salutatorian and have a school official email the photo and information to as soon as possible . Should you have any questions, please contact Mark Wilder via email (, or you can call him at (334) 613-8221.
