MPD issues manhunt for shooting suspect

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - The Montgomery Police Department has issued a manhunt for a suspect in a shooting.

Patrol units responded to the area of Wareingwood and the Atlanta Highway on the report of a subject shot.

Upon arrival, they located 18-year old Richard Gibson who was suffering from two gunshot wounds to the back. He was treated on the scene and transported to Baptist South Medical Center with life threatening injuries.

Witnesses on the scene stated that Gibson and  Mario Cobb were at 11 Wareingwood Drive at a gathering when an argument ensued. At that time, Cobb followed Gibson to the parking lot, produced a handgun and fired at the victim multiple times.

The victim is listed in critical condition. A warrant for Attempted Murder has been signed against Mario D. Cobb, who at this time remains at large.

Cobb is considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Mario Cobb is asked to call the secret witness line at 262-4000 or Crime-stoppers at 215-STOP.
