MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - Republican candidate for governor Bradley Byrne is accusing opponent Tim James of using his father's influence as governor to develop a toll bridge to the Alabama coast.
Byrne says legislation allowing the Foley Beach Express was signed by Gov. Fob James. He calls it the "ultimate insider deal."
Tim James says Byrne is wrong on the facts. He says the legislation allowed other toll roads and bridges and there was no state funding involved in the Foley Beach Express.
James and Byrne are among seven candidates seeking the Republican nomination on June 1.
