MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - Wednesday was a sad day for many of us here at WSFA 12 News. We said farewell to a great friend and co-worker, Kim Hendrix.
Kim announced one month ago that she wanted to be closer to her husband and daughter and that a great opportunity had made itself available where she could do just that.
Kim is moving into a new chapter in her life. She's going to be Director of Development at St. James School here in Montgomery where her daughter attends classes.
She spoke to colleagues and viewers during Alabama Live! and WSFA 12 News at 5:00 Wednesday.
Her final goodbye:
"One last chance for me to say goodbye to you, our viewers, who are really like family. A major fringe benefit of this job, because it's so public is that many of you have prayed for me over the years, when I was pregnant, then for my daughter Annie.
During difficult stories, you've stopped to say you were lifting me up. That is a true gift and blessing that has carried me over these past two decades. This career has taught me that people care deeply. They want to share what they've been through so others can grow, be comforted or empowered and I've been privileged to help share those stories, and I've grown in the process. Thank you and know that I'll miss our regular visits daily.
My family thanks you. I'll still be here in our area, and we can continue sharing our lives together."
We here at WSFA 12 News would like to thank you once again for 20 great years, Kim. We will forever be grateful for your warm spirit and professionalism. We hope you return on occasion, and wish you the very best in this new endeavor.
