MONTGOMERY, AL - Secretary of State Beth Chapman will hold a press conference At 3:30 PM in her office at the Alabama State Capitol to announce the procedure of how the state will move forward with the Republican gubernatorial primary runoff election.
It has been more than 25 years since Alabama has faced such a close primary election. "What we face today is unprecedented," Chapman said. "We are definitely sailing in uncommon waters and we will work hard to make sure we follow the letter of the law and continue to provide the most fair and honest elections possible."
Bradley Byrne will appear in the runoff July 13, but two other Republican candidates are fighting for second place. Dr. Robert Bentley leads Tim James by less than 200 votes.
