Coosa County to vote on education funding

Coosa county voters will go to the polls next month to decide the financial fate of the school system. As we've reported, the system is nearly out of cash and wants to use money from a one-cent sales tax for a new gym and cafeteria as collateral for a nearly $1-million loan.

That loan would help the school system make payroll through the end of the fiscal year. County commissioners approved a countywide referendum to allow citizens to decide if the school system can use some of that tax money.

The vote is July 13th - the same day as the statewide primary.
