TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) - Facing a probable runoff for the Republican nomination for governor, state Rep. Dr. Robert Bentley has changed campaign managers.
Bentley announced Saturday that campaign manager David Ferguson has agreed to step down and would be replaced by Bryan Sanders. Sanders is a senior associate with media consultant and pollster Dresner, Wickers and Associates. Sanders is also the son-in-law of former presidential candidate Mike Huckabee.
Bentley's press secretary, Steven Berry, also stepped down. Bentley did not immediately name a replacement.
Bentley finished second in the June 1 primary barely edging out businessman Tim James for a spot in the runoff against former two-year college chancellor Bradley Byrne.
James has requested a re-count. The republican party tells WSFA 12 News the recount will likely be held Tuesday.
