Hotel Talisi declared public nuisance

Nearly seven months after fire ripped through the Hotel Talisi, the road in front of it remains closed. Officials and business owners say the road closure is causing congestion and confusion downtown.  The city can't reopen it until the area is secure. One wall in danger of collapsing is holding up the process.

After no action from the owners, Mayor George McCain says the city had no choice but to declare the building a public nuisance.  He said, "In order for us to take action, we had to declare it a public nuisance."

The owners said they are now ready, willing and able to fix the wall. The city council gave them 30 days once they receive the plans.
