MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - Montgomery Police rushed to an interstate bridge after reports that an 18 wheeler was teetering on the guard rail.
Around 8:15 tonight, police were called to the crash at I-85 North over Hull Street.
Authorities say that the truck jack knifed and the back end of it knocked down a guard rail. It was left dangling over the edge of the bridge over Hull Street.
The north bound lanes of the interstate were closed for about an hour between the Court Street and the Union Street exits.
Police have since reopened the lanes to traffic and the truck was removed around 9:30.
Crews are removing the broken guard rail. We're told that there is about a 10 to 12 foot gap in the railing.
Although traffic is now moving again, it's backed up for miles so avoid the area if you can.
State department of transportation crews say the truck driver had a medical issue.
