Storms Batter Alabama

There are reports of a Funnel Cloud near downtown Birmingham as storms move through Alabama.  The cloud was spotted near Highway 78.

The storms have already battered Lauderdale, Shelby, and Talladega Counties.  Lauderdale County EMA reported a tornado touchdown with this storm. 

Shelby County EMA reported a tornado at Willis Camp.  A Ham Radio operator reported a tornado and two buildings with roofs off near the power plant in Harpersville in Shelby County.

A tornado was reported by an off duty NWS employee on County Road 103 in the Homestead community.  The report said five homes suffered roof damage and one home had minor structuaral damage.

Funnel Clouds have been reported near Hwy 77 in Talladega County.  Damage has been reported in and around Lincoln in Talladega County.  The damage includes wind damage to trailors, and numerous trees down.  The strong winds brought down trees on Interstate 20 at exit 169.  County power lines are reported down north of the Honda Plant.

There were reports of a tornado on County Road 103 in the Homestead community.  Five homes suffered roof damage and one home had minor structuaral damage as  reported by an off duty NWS employee There are reports of wind damage and numersous trees down  in Pell City, in  Saint Clair County.

Walker County EMA reports a flash flood has washed out a bridge on Hwy 78.
