Montgomery cops arrest three in drug-related shooting

Montgomery Police arrested three men in connection with a drug-related crime that saw a 29-year-old man get shot the face and hand. It happened Wednesday afternoon at the One Stop convenience store near Narrow Lane Road and South Boulevard.

According to a press release from the Montgomery Police Department, Mitchell Gandy 22, John Dees 20, and Antonio Roach 20, all from Evergreen, Ala.,  came to Montgomery and "met with the victim with the intention of committing a drug transaction."  The victim was shot during the drug transaction, said Capt. Keith Barnett of MPD, and detectives found about  1 pound of marijuana inside the suspects' vehicle.

Police charged Gandy, Dees and Roach with attempted murder. They are in the Montgomery County Detention Facility under a $300,000 bond.  Additional charges for the drug possession are being investigated.

The unidentified man, who was wounded at about 4 p.m. on Wednesday, was able to identify the vehicle driven by the alleged assailants. Two were taken into custody shortly after the incident. A third led police on a short chase that ended on Union Street.

At last report, the victim is still is at Baptist South Hospital in critical but stable condition.
